Planes, trains and automobiles

My son turned one in July of this year and his sister is due in March. After she comes, my little Monkey will get to move to a big boy bedroom all the way across the house (ok, really just on the other side of the dining room)! I’m starting to plan his room—planes, trains and automobiles, yay!—and just need to start his quilt. The basic idea will be a built, chenilled and appliqued race car (the kind with the huge fin on the back), but I think I need some sort of background. Maybe a nine-patch in two very similar colors of blue, or maybe a three-strip block with alternating directions? And what to do with the borders and binding? Of course, I went to etsy.com for some inspiration.
I have to admit, I got a little distracted from my mission, and in the end just found things that I loved and inspired me! Wanna see? Here we go!

I loved this cathedral window piece by Emmeli Works. Double bonus: she’s an Idaho girl!

Some transportation-inspired pillows, like these by Room To Romp, might do just the trick to go along with my quilt.

I’ve always loved letters like these created by Kristina of Bouncing Off The Walls

And last, but not least, nothing completes a transportation room like a toy plane from the ceiling and a toy car! Check out these by The Little Builder Toy Co.!

I’m excited to get to work! Keep an eye out for project updates!
